The deadline for registration for all those wishing to participate in short films International Festival 4K HISPASAT ends on 23 September. The contest is open to works of any nationality and genre (fiction, documentary, experimental, music video, institutional …), with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, recorded and produced in 4K format.
HISPASAT, Spanish satellite communications operator, has launched this international festival with the aim of promoting the creation and exhibition of audiovisual content recorded on 4K or Ultra High Definition (UHD), the last great technological revolution of the audiovisual sector. The event is one of the first of its kind in the world.
This pioneering initiative in Spain has the support of leading technology companies like Samsung, Dolby, Canon or SGO, as RTVE, cinemas Callao City Lights of Madrid and Heavents producer.
The categories and awards established are as follows:
- HISPASAT AWARD FOR BEST SHORT FILM: € 3,000 + SUHD Samsung TV.
- SAMSUNG AWARD FOR BEST SHORT FILM IBEROAMERICANO: € 1,000 + SUHD Samsung TV.
- RTVE AWARD FOR BEST SHORT FILM SCHOOL: € 1,000 + 2 specialization scholarships 4K Institute of RTVE.
- CANON AWARD FOR BEST PHOTOGRAPHY: € 1000 + Canon 4K.
- DOLBY AWARD FOR BEST SOUND: € 1,000 + mastering ATMOS.
The five winning entries will be screened during the closing ceremony, which will take place on November 12, 2015 in the Callao Cinema in Madrid.
The emergence of 4K format offers viewers the opportunity to enjoy an unprecedented cinematic experience with picture quality never seen before. The UHD quadruples the number of pixels in a conventional high definition screen.
HISPASAT has promoted since its inception the development and implementation of the UHD in order to put as soon as possible available to viewers of film and television.
