About
About MeHi, thanks for visiting. My name is Simcha and I live with my husband and four kids in Mitzpe Yericho, a small town in Israel’s Judean desert.
I love to read and I have been addicted to Fantasy ever since I picked up The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe for the first time, when I was 11 years old. I was immediately enchanted and I went on to become an avid Fantasy reader. When I moved to Israel, about six years ago, one of the things I missed the most from America was the easy and affordable access to Fantasy books in English. And so I decided to start an online science fiction and fantasy bookstore so that I would have an excuse to bring to Israel hundreds of science fiction and fantasy books. But since I can only read a few books at a time, and this is meant to be a bookstore (though I would love to own a library too), the remaining 700 plus books are available for sale here at 42. About the Store42 is an online science fiction and fantasy bookstore in Israel that provides a large selection of second-hand speculative fiction books, at affordable prices, to Israeli residents. 42 also includes book reviews, author biographies, interesting articles and up-to-date information on science fiction and fantasy events taking place in Israel. Since 42 is a fairly new site, it will continue to undergo many updates and changes. Descriptions of each book and pictures of book covers will soon be added, and many more biographies and book reviews will be included soon as well. Due to the fact that the books at 42 are nearly all second-hand, and that the available stock depends on what is being sold to us, there is no guarantee that the books reviewed are also available for sale. But we will soon be offering books for rent, at very affordable prices, which will include all the titles being reviewed as well as many other popular titles. So make sure to visit the site regularly as we continue to add to it. About the name
Thanks to Douglas Adams, the number 42 has been elevated to a special plane, above all ordinary numbers, and with it’s many connotations, it seemed to me to a great name for a science fiction and fantasy bookstore.
